Challengers For Top Six Meet Tonight

Dundee United welcome Aberdeen to Tannadice tonight hoping to increase the gap on their guests Dundee United meet Aberdeen tonight with both sides looking to be in the top six when the split comes along. United full-back Barry Douglas can see that happening but he is still keen to make the task harder for the Dons tonight. United are looking to move back into the top half of the top flight and open up a six-point lead over the Dons. However, former Queen's Park player Douglas knows it will not be easy against the resurgent Dons. He said: "Aberdeen have been doing really well. We have two teams who are have been going well playing each other so it should be a cracker. It would not too much of a surprise for both of us to finish in the top six but there is a lot of work to do before we can achieve that." United will have to go into the game tonight without injured defenders Darren Dods, Garry Kenneth, Mihael Kovacevic and Scott Severin but they coped well during their 2-0 win at Inverness last week.  Douglas said: "We had another change at the back at Inverness and actually had four attacking wing-backs strung across the defence. Sean Dillon and Paul Dixon were the centre-halves and I think they cruised it. That just shows that we have players who can adapt if needed. We have a few who can do that." Aberdeen manager Craig Brown knows that United players will have to be adaptable with four games in the next 10 days. United face Aberdeen, Hamilton and Hearts in the SPL and Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.  Brown said: "The team getting them in the last game is obviously going to get a leg-weary Dundee United. But sometimes players, without training and just playing games, respond to that so there is a possibility that Dundee United could do well in the four games. But I think they would rather not have four games in just over a week - it's a very demanding schedule. We are the first of the four teams and hopefully we can get something. Although a draw is acceptable, if we've got aspirations of the top six we need to try to win the game."
