Will Scotland be able to be top dog of the gaelic nations? The home international nearly return with the news that Scotland will head to Dublin next year to take part in the inaugural Carling Nations Cup. Scotland fans will link up with fans from Northern Ireland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland in the bars in the city to talk football.  Six games on a league basis will occupy the teams with the first two taking place at the new Aviva Stadium on 8 and 9 February and the other four games being played week beginning  Monday 23 May. Despite the defeat against Sweden last night, national team manager Craig Levein is looking forward to the revival of the classic series. He said:  "There aren’t many opportunities for me to gather the squad and see them perform together as a team, so this new tournament is welcome as it will allow us to take part in some competitive matches ahead of our next Euro 2012 qualifying games." George Peat, the SFA's Acting Chief Executive, went on: "This new tournament will be an exciting addition to the international calendar and I am sure that Scotland fans will relish the chance to support their team against our neighbours in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales.  Having recently announced Carling as the Official Beer of the Scotland Team, we are delighted that they are to be the title sponsor for the Carling Nations Cup, and look forward to working with them to create a fantastic tournament."The launch of the tournament brought together Craig Burley, Pat Bonner, Pat Jennings and Ian Walsh to look back and also forward to new games against the neighbours. Burley said: "As a player you want to play in competitive games, they are the ones that really matter, I’m sure this tournament will be well received by the players and the fans.  It’s great to see a brand like Carling, who is a huge supporter of football, lend its support to this tournament."
