Hibs manager Colin Calderwood turned to his old club to make his first signing Hibs have signed Nottingham Forest midfielder Matt Thornhill on a free transfer. Thornhill scored in the Carling Cup defeat to Bradford back in August which was his only game for Forest this season. He has now accepted a two-and-a-half-year contract and will finalise his move to Easter Road providing he passes a medical over the weekend. Hibs manager Colin Calderwood gave Thornhill his debut at Forest and is looking forward to working with him again. He said: "Matt is a player I know very well from our time working together at Nottingham Forest. He is a dynamic player with terrific goalscoring potential and I think he will give us extra options in the midfield area. He has a proven record of scoring goals and he is an uncomplicated player, who gets the job done. Matt is a player with a great work ethic and I believe that he will play a key role in the continued development of this football club."
