Buthcher Keen To Take Three Points Home Again

The long unbeaten away run has ended but Terry Butcher wants to start a winning run now Terry Butcher is in the mood to bite the hand that offers him hospitality on Saturday when his side travels to play Stuart McCall's Motherwell. Caley Thistle lost their year-long unbeaten away league record dating back to November 2009 in their first game of 2011 in Perth and are now without a win in six league games. Butcher is keen for his side to start another run of wins at Fir Park - where he was manager between 2002 and 2006 - against fellow former Rangers player McCall. The Inverness boss said: "I know Stuart very well. He's a good guy and certainly I know I'll get a drink at Fir Park when we go there. One of the previous Motherwell managers wasn't even in the office after a game to welcome us. But we're going down there to win. We want to do what we normally do on the road and that's get three points." Caley Thistle have started their winning run when they bounced back from defeat in Perth to win their Scottish Cup game against Elgin last weekend, while McCall recorded his first win as Motherwell boss, defeating Dundee 4-0 in the same competition. Butcher went on: "They'll certainly be delighted after their cup win, same as us. But it's a good game for us. It's a team we know quite a bit about. I signed some of the players there as well." Following the trip to Fir Park, Caley Thistle face a rescheduled midweek game at Rangers as the SPL attempt to catch up on the fixture backlog caused by the recent wintery weather. Rangers were due to play St Mirren, but the Buddies will be playing a Scottish Cup replay with Peterhead. Butcher does not understand why Inverness have had to change their schedule when his side have played more games than anyone else in the top flight. He added: "We're miles ahead of everyone else and yet we're being forced to play two games in four days and three games in a week again. We've not had Rangers watched, we've not thought about Rangers because we were not due to play them. I find it completely bizarre that a governing body can say and do these things and make it compulsory that we follow what they say." Meanwhile, Butcher revealed he is looking into extending Kevin McCann's stay at the Caledonian Stadium with the defender, who has been out with a knee injury, due to return to parent club Hibs on Sunday. Butcher said: "We're going to have a chat with Kevin this week and we'll see what we can do there. I think Kevin McCann would be in the team no problems, but he's had a delicate operation. It takes a bit of time. We have talked to the specialist and we'll make a decision on Kevin soon."
