Buddies No Longer

That will be the bad news to some of the St Mirren squad once Danny Lennon has had a chance to evaluate what he has inherited. St Mirren manager Danny Lennon is not about to have an easy transition to his new job. He has to make key decisions regarding which players he wants to weep and which ones will be allowed to move on. These decisions will then allow him to draw up a list of signing targets ahead of the new season. It has been well documented that the Paisley club is not awash with cash so Lennon will have to make decisions with a close eye on what he has available in terms of signing on fees and wages. Lennon will be used to working with a small budget but gaining success after guiding Cowdenbeath to back-to-back promotions. Can he take the next step and bring relative success to the Buddies?  Only time will tell. He said: "We've got players who are under contract and we have seven or eight whose contracts have expired so I've got to make big decisions about these lads and evaluate them. I went home with DVDs and detailed reports and stats on each and every one of them so I'm still evaluating them over the next day or two. I know these lads have families and commitments and I know how important that is. But it has to be right for the football club with the budget we have. That leaves a little bit of room to bring one or two in if need be. The players who are there have done well over the last four seasons to stay where they are. With the strong foundations that have been laid, it's up to Danny Lennon to stamp his mark now and see if he can take it that step forward."
