Brown Wants A Treble

Craig Brown wants to climb the SPL table and a third win in a row will be a boost

Craig Brown is looking to his side to deliver a third win in a row for the first time this season when they welcome Kilmarnock to Pittodrie at 3pm today. The Dons have been close a couple of time to a hat-trick of wins this season without managing to pick up the final one to make the set. However, having secured back-to-back wins over Dundee United in the league and then Forfar in the William Hill Scottish Cup, Brown is desperate for success this time. He said: "Twice this season we have won two games on the bounce and then we have faltered at the third hurdle. We do not want to do that in this game. It would be great to get a third victory."

Brown believes a decent run of results would see fans coming back to Pittodrie in numbers. He went on: "I cannot commend our fans enough. I have said it repeatedly and I am not patronising the supporters but it is an exceptional support we have here and I think we would have had more at Forfar had there been more tickets available. We also had a fantastic support at Tannadice. We always get a good backing from the home supporters. The attendances have not been as big as we would have hoped but, maybe considering the league position, we cannot complain. We have got to get ourselves up that league and then expect to see over 10,000 regularly." Brown is not taking Killie for granted and is wary of the threat posed by Kenny Shiels' side, having been forced to fight back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw when the Ayrshire club last came calling in September. The Dons manager said: "The last game at Pittodrie against Kilmarnock, we gave them two goals of a start and then hit the bar late on. That was one of eight occasions when the woodwork has thwarted us this season. The fact Kilmarnock had a two-goal lead here is a warning to us. They are very capable, they beat us at Rugby Park in an even game when they took their chances. Saturday is a difficult fixture. It should be an attractive game as Kilmarnock like to play football. Kilmarnock are committed to playing right from the back, their manager insists on that style of play. I know Kenny Shiels well from coaching courses in Ireland and I know his philosophy. I respect it and I respect the signings he has made. Despite the fact they have lost influential players like (Kevin) Kyle, (Craig) Bryson and (Mehdi) Taouil recently, Kenny's contacts have enabled him to bring in some impressive recruits, not least his own son Dean on loan from Doncaster Rovers. When I say that Kenny has done a good job it is no understatement because to take over following the excellent job done by former Dons favourite Mixu Paatelainen was a difficult task. Kenny has done that with aplomb and has introduced his own distinctive playing style to the Rugby Park men."
