Brown Confident He Can Help Hibs

Hibs fans must hope Billy Brown can work some magic starting at Fir Park tonight. Hibs new man in the dug-out, assistant manager Billy Brown is confident he can help the struggling Easter Road side forget about their poor (very poor) start to the season. Brown is still getting his feet under the Easter Road table and establishing a working relationship with Colin Calderwood. They were in the East End park dug-out together for the 2-2 draw on Saturday. Brown must have thought he was onto a winner when his new charges were two up before squandering their lead and ending up with just the single point. He is well aware that side do not end at the bottom of the table for no reason and he hopes his experience working with Jim Jefferies will help his schoolboy favourites to move up the SPL table. You could tell he was never really happy at Tynecastle as in the team photograph from the first spell with Jefferies in charge of Hearts he has his eyes closed. If you don't believe me, check the pictures at the bottom of the stairs leading to the Hearts Executive suite.  Thanks to the single point aquired on Saturday, Hibs now sit just above Inverness, but just on goal difference, and Brown is looking for quick improvement in results, starting tonight in the Scottish Communities League Cup third-round game with Motherwell at Fir Park. He said: "It is a big challenge, there is no doubt about that. The team is not in the best of positions in the league at the moment. But if I didn't think I could add something to help the progress of the team (I wouldn't have come) but I have every confidence that I can and look forward to the challenge. It was a surprise (getting the call from Hibs). I was waiting for Real Madrid but that didn't come. The club was brave as well to take on someone who was at their fiercest rivals for years, that was a big decision as well, they put a lot of faith in me. It was strange situation on Saturday to go in to the dugout with Colin for the first time but one thing about Colin, he is a nice chap, he is easy to get on with and I'm sure we will develop a good relationship."
