Broadfoot to leave Scotland squad

Kirk Broadfoot will be sent home from the Scotland squad ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifying double-header against Czech Republic and Spain which starts with a game in Prague on Friday.

The Rangers defender has a foot injury which caused him to miss the win over Hearts at the weekend and his Ibrox team-mate Lee McCulloch - suspended for the meeting with the Czechs - also missed the game with a hip complaint which leaves his place in doubt.

Scotland manager Craig Levein said: "Players are being assessed at this moment. I can tell you Kirk Broadfoot will go back to his club. He has a foot problem and it is safest if he isn't involved."

He added: "Lee is another that I don't know about yet.

"Matt Gilks has a problem with a dead leg, Alan Hutton is a bit sore in his groin and Jay McEveley has a problem as well.

"These are not serious injuries but we will have to let the medical team do the work and then they can inform me what they think I should do."
