Bell's Ring Of Confidence

Coming back from injury is always hard but coming back to face Rangers was a test and a half for Cammy Bell

Cammy Bell was always confident of reclaiming the Killie goalkeeping gloves after he was sidelined for around six weeks with an elbow problem. He was back in goal for the 1-0 win over Rangers last Sunday. Manager Kenny Shiels obviously took into consideration Bell's previous form when making his choice between his first and second choice, Anssi Jaakkola, keeper for Sunday's game. Bell said: "The manager spoke to me throughout the whole time I was injured and reassured me. I wasn't out of the team because of form, I was just unfortunate because of injury. Anssi did well when he was in but that's the decision the manager has to make. Thankfully he picked me and we got the clean sheet and got the win. It was good to get back playing. It was a hard six weeks for me to take. I didn't think the injury would be so long. It took me a while to get back but I was delighted to be back in the team and to get the victory on Sunday. It was a big game to go straight back into. I had played a reserve game at the start of the week just to make sure everything was all right. It was always going to be a hard game but those are the games you love playing in. I was delighted to get the chance to play and to get a first win for 17 years against Rangers at Rugby Park was a bit special as well." Bell knows that once a game has been won, it is back to the hard work of winning the next one. Aberdeen are the visitors on Saturday and  the goalkeeper admits their efforts against Rangers will quickly be forgotten if they fail to deliver the goods again. He said: "The boys are flying at the moment but we need to beat Aberdeen now. If we beat Rangers and then drop points against Aberdeen then it's all forgotten about. We need to kick on and push ourselves up the league. We know it's not going to be an easy game on Saturday. We need to play well to win but hopefully we can perform well again and get the three points on Saturday."
