Antoine-Curier Signs On At Hamilton - Again

Billy Reid hopes that history can repeat itself with the signing of Mickael Antoine-Curier Hamilton's Billy Reid has signed Mickael Antoine-Curier until the end of the season. When on loan last year from Dundee he scored eight goals for Accies so Reid knows what he can do. Antoine-Curier was available as he was made redundant when the Dens Park club went into administration last October. A knee injury curtailed his progress in the second half of last season and he did not play again for Dundee, but Reid has taken a chance on the free agent Guadeloupe international in the hope he can repeat his initial form at New Douglas Park. Accies welcome Celtic tonight and Reid felt he needed a targetman although it is unlikely that the new signing will feature. The manager said: "If you look at Conor Sammon at Kilmarnock, he is a big presence up front, especially playing one up top, getting in behind. If he can score half the goals Conor Sammon has scored it will be job done for us. But he scored eight goals last season before he got injured and I know if we get him on the park fit then he can have an influence on our team. He's had a hard time recently with the Dundee situation, he's been out for five months, so we've got to give him a bit of time. But he has trained for three or four days and I know the job he can do for us. Hopefully we can get him on the park, fit again, and scoring goals." Reid will now look to strengthen his midfield with a loan return for Wigan's Jon Routledge a priority. He said: "Jon Routledge is a player who I thought did well for us. He's down there at the moment trying to sort out a deal with Wigan. I think Wigan are interested in sending him back up here until the end of the season and we're hopeful we can get him back and he can continue the good job he has done at Hamilton Accies." The signing of Antoine-Curier is good news to be added to the Scottish Cup win over Alloa on Saturday. Hamilton had only scored once in the previous seven games but Nigel Hasselbaink returned from a knee injury to net the opening goal in a 2-0 triumph. Reid said: "It was important to get the win, the first home win of the season. To go into a double-header against the Old Firm on the back of another home defeat would have been a struggle for us. To get the win convincingly and chip in with a couple of goals was great. We've conceded one goal in four games so defensively we're looking strong and hopefully we can go into the game against Celtic confident and cause them some problems."
