Answering McCall From Fir Park

30 December 2010 11:00
Ts to be crossed and i's to be dotted but it looks like Motherwell have a new manager. Motherwell look about to confirm that former Scotland midfielder Stuart McCall will take over from interim manager Gordon Young on a permanent basis. The search for the successor to Craig Brown has ended and barring any hitches, the ex-Bradford manager will meet the media this afternoon. There have been a series of names linked with the post in recent weeks since Brown and his assistant Archie Knox moved to Aberdeen. It was reported that the Lanarkshire club had interviewed former Oldham boss Dave Penney, while Neil McDonald and Ricky Sbragia withdrew their interest. Motherwell caretaker manager Gordon Young revealed McCall introduced himself to his new charges after the game. He said: "Stuart came in and introduced himself after the game and reiterated what I said, that we were nervy in the first half but it was a pleasure in the second half and he is delighted to be working with that group of players. The players won't need any lifting. The longer the game went the more we grew in stature even thought we didn't start the game well. We seemed nervous but after half-time I felt we were certainly the better team." Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
