Pre-season games can be difficult to arrange at the last minute whe you think you have it alls et up. Annan Athletic are calling round teams looking for pre-season games to be the fourth team willing to take part in their annual tournament after Partick Thistle decided to pull out. The Jags thought is would be inappropriate after being drawn against Harry Cairney’s side in the First Round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Saturday, 31 July. The tournament was due to take place on Saturday and Sunday, 17 and July and included the Galabank men as well as Ayr United and Workington Town. Black and Gold Chairman Henry McClelland said: "Partick’s manager Ian McCall called me to express his disappointment at pulling out. He enjoyed being in the tournament when he was the manager of Queen of the South. He sees it as ideal pre-season preparation, however we can not be playing each other just the two weeks before we meet in the Co-operative Insurance Cup. Ian is hopeful that Thistle will be playing in next season’s tournament."It was the second pre-season blow for the Jags as they had to cancel a trip to Cumbernauld to face Clyde when the sides drew each other in the ALBA Challenge Cup.
