Alloa Expect Tough Came Against Peterhead

24 April 2010 08:09
The final run in is tight at the top of Division Two and Peterhead could spoli things for Alloa. Peterhead manager Neale Cooper has several problems ahead of the visit of leaders Alloa. The influential Bobby Mann is still unavailable due to suspension, fellow defenders Callum MacDonald and Jonathan Crawford are also out, while Davie Donald is struggling for fitness. Midfielder Neil McVitie could return, however, strikers Scott Michie and Jonathan Smith remain long-term casualties. Cooper is looking for more consistency from his side. He said: "Last week we lost a goal in eight seconds and had only one player, Paul Emslie that looked like he could make a difference in terms of getting us level again. It would not surprise me if we go out and put on a great show to beat Alloa as we are capable of it.''     Home  Away       Team P W D L F A W D L F A GD PTS 1 Alloa 34 10 2 5 24 20 8 6 3 22 12 14 62 2 Stirling 33 6 8 3 29 22 11 1 4 34 22 19 60 3 Cowdenbeath 33 9 4 3 29 16 6 6 5 23 19 17 55 4 Brechin 34 9 5 3 29 19 6 3 8 20 21 9 53 5 Dumbarton 34 5 4 8 21 30 9 2 6 26 22 -5 48 6 Peterhead 34 7 5 5 21 18 7 0 10 21 30 -6 47 7 East Fife 34 6 4 7 22 21 4 5 8 21 29 -7 39 8 Stenhousemuir 34 5 5 7 15 21 4 6 7 21 19 -4 38 9 Arbroath 34 4 4 9 20 31 5 5 7 17 22 -16 36 10 Clyde 34 5 0 12 13 27 2 7 8 20 27 -21 28 Alloa will be without midfielder David McClune and defender Mark Brown for today's. McClune is suspended and Brown misses the trip due to injury, while midfielder Brown Ferguson faces a late fitness check. Boss Allan Maitland was remaining calm despite the pressure being heaped on his side by second placed Stirling Albion, who have moved to within two points of the Wasps with a game in hand. Maitland said: "If Stirling Albion go on a run of seven wins and a draw and lift the title there is very little you can do about it apart from saying well done, that is a great record. All we can do is win our last couple of games and see where we end up but it will be a really hard game to win at Peterhead.''
