Alba Cup Semi-Final

It's a long journey from Dumfries to Peterhead and even longer on the way back if you don't get the result you want Peterhead take on Queen of the South today in the semi-final of the Alba Challenge Cup without experienced defender Bobby Mann due to an ankle injury. The same fate befell midfielder Nicky Clark and striker Connor Gethins (thigh strain) appears to have lost his fitness battle. Peterhead manager Neale Cooper said: "This is great opportunity for us to get to a national final for the first time. While we know it's a hard game we're at home and determined to do well and from what I have seen in training the players are raring to go." Queen of the South manager Kenny Brannigan will have Paul Burns available despite his red card last weekend. Burns is available for the semi-final clash as his suspension is restricted to league duty, but fellow midfielder Steven McKenna sits out a one-game ban after picking up two cautions in the competition so far. Midfield pair Rocco Quinn and Allan Johnston have been passed fit, leaving only striker Sean O'Connor absent through injury. Brannigan said: "Neale Cooper will have Peterhead fired up, make no mistake about that and we have to be ready for it. Getting to a final just a few months after being made the manager at Queen of the South would be a fantastic achievement and one I would be very proud of.'"
