No stopping Jimmy Bolye getting players added to his squad Airdrie United manager Jimmy Boyle has been busy and will need new ink in his pen after he secured four new signings in a few days. Experienced striker Derek Holmes has moved to the Diamonds from Queen of the South, St Mirren midfielder Sean Lynch also joining the Lanarkshire men and former Kilmarnock winger Graeme Owens signing on for a second time at the club. The Second Division side are certainly adding experience as Holmes, who was a free agent after ending two years at Dumfries, started his career at Hearts back in 1997 and has also played for Cowdenbeath and Raith Rovers on loan as well as Ross County, Bournemouth, Carlisle, Rotherham and St Johnstone. Lynch, who scored on his debut for the Buddies against Dundee United last August, began his career at Hibs and he also had spells at St Johnstone on loan and Falkirk, with former Middlesbrough and Blackpool player Owens returning to the Excelsior Stadium where he starred for the last three months of the season just ended following his release from Killie. With Ayr United winger Ally Woodburn joining earlier in the week it has been a busy time for Boyle. He said: "Derek is a player I have admired for a long time and he gives us options which we did not have last year. I felt we needed a presence and some experience to assist our other strikers and Derek will certainly bring that. Sean will bring a bit of experience and stability to the middle of the park which is important as we were short of that last season. There was interest elsewhere in Graeme and anyone who saw him last season with us would understand why. We felt it important to try to secure his services before anything else developed and fortunately we were successful. We are in a much stronger place squad wise than we were last year and our young players have a season of first time football behind them. We have added a bit of experience in key areas and particularly through the backbone of the team so I am looking forward to the new season."
