Charlie Adam has urged Scotland to do themselves justice when they come face to face with Brazil this weekend.
Both nations meet for the first time since the 1998 World Cup when an own-goal from Tom Boyd saw the Scots suffer an agonising 2-1 defeat to the then world champions in Paris. That World Cup opener is the only meeting between the two countries that 25-year-old Adam can actually remember.
But he is well aware of past efforts against the Samba stars - including David Narey's famous "toe-poke" back in 1982. And the midfielder wants Craig Levein's class of 2011 to make sure they put on a show against the Brazilians on Sunday. He said: "At France 98 we lost in Paris but that's the only game I really remember."
He added: "David Narey's toe-poke against Brazil made him a legend! I just hope the current squad we've got now is good enough to put up a good show and get a good performance. It'll be a fantastic occasion and hopefully I'll get the opportunity to play.
"Brazil are one of the best teams in the world and they've got some of the best players. It's great that I've been picked for the squad and hopefully we'll get the right result."
Ticket sales hit 30,000 earlier this month and thousands of Tartan Army will descend on the Emirates Stadium for the highly-anticipated clash this weekend.
"It'll be like a home game and I'll be looking forward to it," added Adam.
"They always say Scotland fans go for a good time.
"They'll be there in their numbers to support the team and hopefully we'll get a good result for them and they can have a great weekend. I've got a lot of family and friends going to the game.
"They're looking forward to it because not many have been to the Emirates before. It'll be good to see all the players who are playing."
