70 And Out

Ever present Michael McGowan's record had to go one day. Michael McGowan’s amazing record of never missing a second of play for Third Division Albion Rovers in seventy games came to an end on Saturday. He had to be substituted Annan Athletic as the Coatbridge men went down 4-1. The full-back had started and finished every game he had played in since August 2008 without ever being suspended or injured. His amazing run had to end sometime and, after being sick during the game at Galabank, manager Paul Martin just had to take him off. Martin said: "Michael was not feeling well before the game but was determined to play and even after being ill he wanted to carry on but we had to take him off. It was a disappointing way for his unbroken run to end."  McGowan is raring to go to continue his 'ever-present in the starting line up' record of 71 games and Martin said:"Michael is feeling a lot better and should be okay for our cup-tie with Sunnybank."
