Volz fails to impress Schalke

Former Arsenal and Fulham defender Moritz Volz has failed to earn a contract at Schalke.

The 26-year-old, who started his career with the Gelsenkirchen-based outfit, had been training with the Schalke squad recently in a bid to impress head coach Felix Magath.

However, Magath has decided not to offer Volz, who is a free agent after leaving Fulham at the end of last season, a permanent contract.

Schalke remain interested in signing a new right-back though as Rafinha continues to be linked with a move away from the club.
