Schalke eased into a Champiions League semi-final after dominating defending champions Inter Milan.

The game started emphatically, with Inter Milan midfield Dejan Stankovic volleying Manuel Neuer's headed clearnace from near on the halfway line.

Schalke scored 3 second-half goals to deal Inter Milans hopes of retaining the European Crown a huge blow. Dejan Stankovic and Diego Milito put Inter infront, and at a 2-0 lead Inter Milan looked comfortable. Schalke striker Goncalves Edu scored for Schalke, making the half time score 2-1 to the Italians.

Spanish legend Raul scored his 70th Champions League goal, in the 53rd minute of the tie, along with an Andrea Ranocchia own goal, turned the tie in favour of the Germans, making it 4-2 to Schalke. Inter were soon reduced to 10 men after Christian Chivu was deemed to go through the back of Edu, although it appeared he pulled out of the challenge at the last minute.

Schalke striker Edu eventually finished the rout, making it 5-2 and scoring his second of the night. Schalke progressed, and earned there first-ever Champions League semi-final.

Raul left Madrid for German Club Schalke and lead his side into The Champions League. On a night when the ex Madrid hero scored his 70th Champions League goal, ensuring he does go down as the All Time Champions League goal scorer, it was his goal that took Schalke into the lead - and led them to their best run in European Football.
