Schalke snap up Pliatsikas

Schalke have agreed a deal to sign Greece international midfielder Vassilios Pliatsikas from AEK Athens.

The 21-year-old has penned a contract running until the summer of 2013 to head to the Bundesliga.

New Schalke coach Felix Magath told the club's official website: "He is a very talented player. His main strength is his tackling ability.

"I have also spoken with Greece coach Otto Rehhagel, among others, about Pliatsikas and he rates him highly.
