Schalke snap up Gavranovic

Schalke added to their squad on transfer deadline day with the signing of striker Mario Gavranovic from Swiss side Neuchatel Xamax.

The 20-year-old Switzerland Under-21 international joins the Bundesliga outfit on a three-and-half-year contract.

Gavranovic told his new club's official website: "I am glad that I am here, but I must work hard for a place. But I do not pressurise myself.

"I am quite conscious that the speed of the game here is quicker and more is expected of me.

"At the beginning it will surely not be easy, but I am determined to make it work here and will give everything."
