Schalkes staff held important talks this week in a bid to rediscover the winning-formula after picking up six draws in the last eight league games and crashing out of the German Cup 6-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt in recent days.
Although it seems a little early to be talking of a crisis at a club who are the only side still unbeaten in the Bundesliga, a gap of seven points between themselves and the leaders is far too much, according to general manager Rudi Assauer, who this week said league leaders Bayern "are a long way off."
The Royal Blues go to the AOL-Arena in Hamburg on Saturday hoping that gap doesnt increase any further, and team manager Andreas Muller believes the meeting on Wednesday will have the desired effect. "We had to find some straight words, and we did," he said. "Maybe it was a kick up the backside at just the perfect time." Coach Ralf Rangnick is unlikely to make amendments to his side with the same eleven players given the responsibility of getting Schalkes season back on track with immediate effect.
