Schalke without Hildebrand in Bucharest

Schalke 04 will be without Timo Hildebrand for Tuesday's Champions League game at Steaua Bucharest after the former Germany goalkeeper suffered a bruised hip.

The 34-year-old picked up the injury in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt when the Royal Blues threw away a two-goal lead, leaking three goals in 12 second-half minutes.

Hildebrand was left red-faced earlier this month after his goal-kick was charged down by Chelsea's Samuel Eto'o and flew into the empty net in the Blues' 3-0 win against Schalke in London.

Ex-Germany Under-21 goalkeeper Ralf Faehrmann is set to deputise in Bucharest against the Romanian champions, who are bottom of the group, and have drawn their last two games in the Romanian league.

Schalke, who are second in Champions League Group E behind Chelsea, are on course to qualify for the knock-out stages and host Swiss champions FC Basel in their final pool game next month.
