Rutten could be heading to PSV

Schalke's beleaguered coach Fred Rutten is reportedly wanted by Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

Last season's Dutch title winners have endured a disappointing 2008-09 campaign and dispensed with Huub Stevens' services in January.

PSV have been linked with Klaus Toppmoller, Ronald Koeman and Co Adriaanse in the last two months but Rutten has now emerged as their number one target.

Schalke have reportedly been on the verge of sacking Rutten for several weeks as they continue to struggle in the Bundesliga.

They are currently eighth in the table and lost 2-1 at home to Hamburg at the weekend.
