Rakitic may stay at Schalke

Croatia forward Ivan Rakitic could yet opt to remain with Schalke next season, according to the player's agent.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Italy in recent months, but Michel Urscheler thinks that coach Felix Magath's arrival at Schalke could persuade Rakitic to stay put.

He told Calciomercatoweb: "Ivan is fine in Germany, even though he did not show his true potential this season. Now we'll see what the future holds for him.

"We wait for the things to settle and then we shall sit around a table to discuss matters.

"He's young and he still has a career ahead of him. Working with Magath is something he would like - we are talking about one of the most successful coaches in recent years."
