Kahn discusses Schalke move

Oliver Kahn could be the new general manager of Bundesliga club Schalke after the former international goalkeeper entered negotiations with the club on Wednesday.

Former Bayern Munich legend Kahn had not agreed terms by the time initial discussions finished at 10am on Thursday but both parties are open to a deal in the near future.

"We have agreed that we will call each other again in two to three weeks," Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies said after the meeting.

"Kahn is a great guy and we are completely in agreement. We have discussed a plan and everything fits together. However, we still want to talk with other candidates."

Thirty-nine-year-old Kahn was also cautious over the move, telling Spiegel magazine: "Whether it works out depends on many different factors.

"I have had several talks with Schalke. It is all about finding out what conditions exist and how we can achieve things there."
