Duo bolster Schalke ranks

Schalke have added two new players to their squad, with Brazilian striker Edu and Bayern Munich midfielder Alexander Baumjohann heading to Gelsenkirchen.

Twenty-eight-year-old frontman Edu has signed a contract running until the summer of 2013, having ended a spell in South Korea with Suwon Blue Wings to head back to Germany.

He has previous experience of the Bundesliga from spells with Bochum and Mainz.

Baumjohann, meanwhile, heads back to his first professional club for an undisclosed fee, having struggled to make a mark with Bayern following his arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer.

Another Bayern man on the move is Andreas Ottl, who has joined Brazilian defender Breno in linking up with Nurnberg on loan until the end of the season.
