Di Matteo takes charge of Schalke

Roberto Di Matteo has been named as manager of Bundesliga club Schalke. The 44 year-old last managed Chelsea and guided them to the Champions League and FA cup before being dismissed in December 2012. It comes after Jens Keller was sacked after the team’s poor start to the season, where they have only won 2 of their 7 matches so far, with Keller’s last match resulting in a 2-1 away defeat to Hoffenheim. . Di Matteo will be facing his former club when Chelsea visit the Veltins Arena in on November 25th, and the former Blues legend will be hoping for a similar performance last time round where Striker Huntelaar scored in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. He had previous success at West Brom and Mk Dons, before being appointed as caretaker , when he famously lead the London club to their first ever major European trophy.
