A Turkish match between Mersin Idman Yurdu and Samsunspor was suspended when ugly scenes saw a manager stabbed on the touchline - by his own brother.

Mersin coach Yuksel Yesilova suffered six stab wounds to the stomach in the attack, and was rushed to hospital. Fortunately his injuries were not life-threatening and he was released on Tuesday morning.

"It was discovered that Murat Yesilova, the elder brother of the coach, carried out the assault," said local government official Huseyin Aksoy

"In his first statement to the police he said he did it because of personal issues."

Sansumspor could face a two-match penalty for the outbreak of violence during the match - the result of which is yet to be decided.
