Storari was desperate to move

Goalkeeper Marco Storari has confirmed that he was desperate to leave AC Milan for Sampdoria in the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old enjoyed a run of games for the Rossoneri earlier this season, but lost his place to Brazilian veteran Dida and felt that he had no option other than to seek a move away from the San Siro.

Storari commented: "I really wanted to join Sampdoria so much that I refused many offers.

"When I knew that Samp were interested I begged (vice-president) Adriano Galliani to let me leave.

"I wanted to play with more consistency and I told the Milan directors."
