Samp take no Cassano action

Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano will not be punished by his club despite his weekend spat with supporters.

The controversial Italy striker became embroiled in an argument with supporters in the aftermath of Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Palermo.

Reports claimed Cassano made angry gestures at the Samp fans, but director of sport Giuseppe Marotta claims he will not be sanctioned.

"I don't see any reason as to why Cassano should be fined by the club," he said.

"He was simply defending the other younger players who were booed throughout the game.

"Everything was back to normal soon after though as Cassano and the other players went back to talk to the fans face-to-face."
