Sampdoria match-winner Giampaolo Pazzini has expressed his desire to return to the national team after gunning down champions Internazionale during their Serie A showdown on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Pazzini said: "Cassano and I are in the same situation, we have to work hard to do well for Sampdoria.

"It's the only road that can take us back into the national team.

"We have this great ambition and it's something that motivates us a lot."

On his goal, he continued: "I saw it come and I kicked it. It went well. It was a great emotion, now we are on top of the table."
