Injury ends Pozzi's season

Sampdoria striker Nicola Pozzi suffered a knee ligament injury in the first half of Sunday's Serie A draw with Bologna that has ended his season.

The 23-year-old, who has scored twice in 15 appearances for Samp this term, will visit knee injury specialist Marc Martens after suffering the injury in the 27th minute of the 1-1 draw.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Nicola Pozzi has undergone clinical tests and they showed he has a lesion to the medial ligament in his left knee.

"He will fly to Amsterdam on Tuesday where he will be seen by professor Martens, who has treated Pozzi's injuries in the past."
