Del Neri named Samp coach

Sampdoria have named Gigi Del Neri as their new coach following Walter Mazzarri's departure.

The former AS Roma and Chievo boss has spent the last two seasons with Atalanta.

Samp decided not to renew Mazzarri's contract after ending the Serie A season in mid-table and losing the Coppa Italia Final to Lazio.

The 58-year-old Del Neri has confirmed that his assistant coach will be Francesco Conti, while Roberto De Bellis and Guido Bistazzoni will form part of his backroom staff.
