Two Russian football fans wanted in connection with an attack on volunteer stadium stewards have been detained as they tried to cross the Polish border into Belarus, police said on Monday.

The men, both said to be in their twenties, were detained in the border town of Terespol, eastern Poland, police in Wroclaw, southwest Poland, said.

"One confessed and agreed to accept punishment. The other is refusing to cooperate," a Wroclaw police spokesman was quoted as saying by the Polish press agency PAP.

Authorities are still looking for four other Russian fans after the June 8 attack at Wroclaw stadium, which left four stewards requiring hospital treatment. Amateur footage of the brawl was broadcast on Polish television.
