Russia's Dutch coach Dick Advocaat expressed his delight after the 2008 semi-finalists thrashed the Czech Republic 4-1 in their opener on Friday in Warsaw.

"We are happy, we have scored four goals and it is a great result which also means we can score more goals," he beamed.

"But at 2-1 up, we came up against some dangerous situations and we had to be precise in our play. We were not really in the match for the first 15 minutes and lacking in confidence as the match was very balanced.

"But then the players really began to play well and even if we can do better, what we showed against Italy (3-0 win) is a good sign but are we favourites in the group?.

"It is important to win the first match but it is at the end of the tournament that you lift the trophy, not now".
