Sam Smith's eighth goal of the season stole the points for Rushden and put a dent in Kettering's play-off hopes. He poked the ball past Lee Harper from six yards out after the game had looked destined to end goalless. Earlier, only a superb parried save by Harper had prevented Marcus Kelly putting the home side in front as he kept out his 25-yard effort.
