Tough decisions dont scare Evans

Speaking in the Advertiser today, boss Steve Evans says he's not afraid to make unpopular decisions if he feels it will benefit the team.

With the departure of Daniel Nardiello initially on loan, Boss Steve Evans again saw a mixed reaction to the departure of a fans favorite at the New York Stadium.

Evans explains to the Tiser that he's needing total effort as he aims to take his team to a back to back promotion; "I said to my boys as part of the team talk at Stevenage, there are some exciting times coming at this football club. We've had some great times in the last 15 months and the supporters are going to get more." he said.

“If the players really want to be a part of what this club is trying to do, they must turn up every day with an enthusiasm to train and every matchday wanting to give your all. To get into this team, you have to have the workrate and desire and if you don't then you can't play for us." he added.

“We sign players with lots of ability but they have to work as hard as the supporters behind the goal want and if they don't do that two or three times, I'm the person who has to make the tough decision to let them go."

“It was never going to be popular to move Nardiello on but it was never popular to move on Andy Warrington and some others. I ask the supporters to recognise that I want what they want and that is to take this club higher. If I can help deliver them, then great. If I don't then somebody else will,”

“If people look at what we have done so far, I've cleared out Kayode Odejayi, Lionel Ainsworth, David Noble and now Daniel Nardiello. When I came into the football club, it was about revolution. There was a lot of signings and some have worked and some have not. Now it is about evolution.”
