Tony has a 3-5 year plan for me - Steve

Boss Steve Evans speaks to todays Advertiser of the chairmans backing and support.

The last few weeks have seen Steve Evans linked with the Notts County job while also coming under pressure from his own fans, however 3 good wins in a week seems to have taken the pressure off.

Speaking to the 'Tiser, Steve looks forward to running his contact and earning an extension if all goes to plan; "Tony Stewart has spoken about a three to five-year plan for Steve Evans. In his own words, he was sick and tired of moving managers on and wanted someone he felt could build something virtually from scratch and be strong enough to take the bad days and the flak that comes at a big club like Rotherham."

"I said when we lost one or two matches that we were here for the duration and Tony's words to me before the match against Chesterfield were fantastic. He said 'you can get beat in a derby Steve but we are here for three to five years together.'"

"I'm very fortunate as a manager that when I lose a game I don't need to look behind me for the knives. My chairman is a very honest man and I know the first time he doubts that I'm the man will be the first day I'm not here."

"There is recognition at Notts County at the job that we're doing, I think some people within football realise we have had to come in, manage the expectation of a big support, regroup and make quick assessments on players we inherited last season. In hindsight we didn't get all those decisions right or regarding some we brought, but it has been such a massive turnaround."

"Hopefully we are good enough to get promoted and if we are there will be a minimum turnaround because we have players who in my opinion will do very well in League One."
