Shearer has successful op

'Keeper Scott Shearer underwent successful surgery on his elbow yesterday but Steve Evans rules out signing cover whilst he is absent.

Young Tony Thompson is currently providing backup to veteran Andy Warrington and after making three new signings since the transfer window opened last week, the gaffer says he'll make do with what he's got for now.

"I don’t need to sign a new goalkeeper,” he said to todays Star. “It is a shame for Scott but we have been hammered by injuries all season.”

Shearer is expected to be out for around a month.

Meanwhile Danny Kearns and Adam Morgan are set for their home debuts against Barnet on Saturday whilst youngsters Alec Denton and Mitch Rose have joined Evans' former club Stamford on month long loan deals.
