Inconsistency is the problem - Evans
Despite two good away wins in the past week, Steve Evans is determined to stamp out a certain inconsistency in the Millers game.
Back to back wins at Exeter and Accrington saw an injury hit Millers side move into fourth place in League Two going into this weekends FA Cup break, but those victories followed a home defeat by then bottom club Wycombe.
And the gaffer says that will cost his side in the long run.
“I thought Ian Sharps and Johnny Mullins were excellent at Accrington but they were well supported by our full-backs in Mark Bradley and Liam Ridehalgh,” said Evans to todays 'Tiser.
“I don’t think it was a spectacular performance but it was a hard working one and if you do work that hard then you can get a bit of luck. When we worked as hard as we did to come back from the poor start we made then that shows a lot of character. We’ve spoken about character for three or four weeks now.
“The personnel has changed a lot over the last few games and when you have to use eight or nine of your backup players you’ll get caught. It doesn’t matter whether you’re Rotherham United or Manchester United, you will get caught out and that’s what’s happened here.
“We said we had to be in the play off group going into January and that’s still our aim. A lot of other managers have said we’re in a bit of a crisis here at Rotherham but our problem is inconsistency and we need to sort that out or it'll cost us.”
