Bruce won't relish Millers test - Evans
Published : 14 Jun 2012 11:13:50
Boss Steve Evans reacts to the Millers first round draw in the Capital One cup, as his side face a trip to Hull.
Evans has had previous success at the KC with Crawley, and spoke to the clubs website about the Millers first meeting with the Tigers for 12 years.
"I believe that you have to test yourself against the best and compete against the best, and in Hull we have a chance to go there and try and beat one of the best teams in the draw.
"I am sure if Steve Bruce could have hand picked his draw he would have obviously preferred to be at home, which we all would, but secondly he wouldn't have picked Rotherham, not a chance. It will be his first real competitive game in charge of Hull City so it will be tough, but it is a ground that myself and Paul Raynor have fond memories of because we won there with Crawley in the FA Cup."
Steve added: "Hull are obviously a club that has aspirations of the Premier League otherwise they wouldn't have brought in Steve Bruce, the fact that he has gone there as manager tells you about the ambition of that football club.
"He will know that against a Steve Evans team he will get a competitive fixture, we will go there and try and get everyone playing at their best and if we do then we will everyone a real cup tie."
