Barker red downgraded

Rotherham defender Shaun Barker will not have to serve a suspension despite being sent off during the 2-0 defeat against Port Vale.

Barker saw red for a professional foul on Billy Paynter, but after watching a replay of the incident, referee Gary Lewis recommended that the punishment be downgraded to a yellow card.

Lewis' decision means the 22-year-old is free to face Gillingham at Millmoor on Saturday.

The move will be some consolation to Millers boss Mick Harford, who blamed the referee's display for his side's defeat.
