Barker junior signs Millers deal

Rotherham United defender Shaun Barker has signed a new two-year contract with the Millers.

The news comes just two days after the 20-year-old's namesake, Richie, signed a two-year extension to his current deal at Millmoor.

Barker broke into the first team last season and made his debut in the defeat at Brighton in March.

He went on to play 11 games as Ronnie Moore's side finished in a comfortable mid-table finish.

"It has come a little earlier than I expected as I thought the coming season might be the one when I would make a push for a first-team place," Barker told the club's official website.

"I have been well pleased with the progress I have made and hopefully I will be able to build on that. I am looking forward to the new season when I hope to hold my place in the team."
