Wilson wanted a move home - Evans

Boss Steve Evans says the decision to allow Laurie Wilson to leave the club was so he could move back home and find regular football.

Wilson left the club on Friday morning after having opportunities of first team action limited.

And Evans explained this afternoon to themillers.co.uk: "Laurence Wilson has now left us and it is not easy to make that decision when he is such a nice lad.

" We had an excellent relationship so that made my decision even more difficult but I must do what I think is right for the team. Someone asked me yesterday if he had his contract paid up, absolute nonsense!. This was all about the lad wanting to play and allowing him to move back home to Liverpool with his young family, I really wish him good luck and his words to me on Friday meant something."
