Wembley's a good payday - Douglas

The Millers chief operating officer tells the Advertiser today that the Millers date at Wembley could bring near on a Million pound into the club should the result go our way. "We have done alright from the play-off already because the income is split equally between the four semifinalists. The Football League take 50 per cent of the net income from the final and the rest will be split between ourselves and the other club." Douglas told the 'Tiser. "If we manage to get promoted it would mean at least another £400,000 in terms of central Football League money. League One is a more lucrative division to be in but that has to be balanced against increased salaries for players." "It might be an exaggeration to say the play-off final is a £1 million game with all that's at stake, but it won't be far off. Wembley itself is a good pay day for us and we want as many people as possible to get down there and support us." Meanwhile, chairman Tony Stewart said: "Financially it's tremendous for us but let's embrace what we have achieved in getting to Wembley. The work the players have put in has been incredible and now the chance is there for us. Let's rise to the occasion and get down there in numbers and create some volume."
