Warne issues reminder to Moore

Veteran Paul Warne showed manager Ronnie Moore he is more than capable of answering his call for a striker with an impressive display for the reserves. Warne, 37, who works in a player-coach role at the Don Valley Stadium, bagged both goals in a 3-2 defeat to Port Vale. He showed a striker's instinct for the first as Ollie Banks' effort appeared to be going wide before Warne's touch helped it in. The second came from the penalty spot. Following a one-two with Marcus Marshall, Warne was hacked down in the box but he picked himself up and sent Vale keeper Chris Martin the wrong way. Moore is on the lookout for a striker after failing to bring in Plymouth's Rory Fallon and his son Ian Thomas-Moore from Tranmere.
