Mullins was at the heart of a defence that shipped four goals in the first half an hour at Port Vale, and he explained that it was simply not good enough.
“Defensively we were all at sea and there were errors all over the place. We were shell-shocked and the feeling afterwards was a massive difference to the week before when we were buzzing.
“How much lower can you get than a 6-2 defeat for a club of our stature at this level? - we’d had a wake up call with the defeat by York in midweek but obviously we thought we were better than we were.
“It will take a lot of hard work this week with people showing they want to be in the team and to come out fighting. It’s been one hell of a kick up the backside," he added.
