Tubbs not fazed by goal drought

Forward Matt Tubbs speaks to the Star, and after netting his first Millers goal last weekend he wants to keep his place up top.

Tubbsy got his first goal in 16 months against Colchester, a long time to wait, after joining on loan from Bournemouth and now hopes he can kick on and that the goals will come.

After being a major marksman under boss Steve Evans for old club Crawley in League Two and the Conference, he wants to replay the faith shown in him by the manager.

"I’ve bided my time, kept my head down and trained well and that’s all you can do. Now, I’ve got in, scored, want to put in a good week’s training and hope it puts me in the frame for Saturday.

“I thought we did quite well as a partnership (with Alex Revell) and all through my career I’ve played with a target man and Revs is a fantastic player. We were hitting it off and he was seeing my runs. You need to develop an understanding in matches.

“I don’t let not scoring faze me. I was always taught as a kid that you are going to get chances and it’s whether you take them or not. With the lads we have they are going to create chances for me and it was only a matter of time before one went in.”
