The loan period at League Two side Exeter City has seen Ryan Taylor return to the Millers looking a stronger player physically and mentally. Manager Ronnie Moore spoke to the Tiser saying he felt the move was beneficial to both the player and the club, Moore explained: "Ryan has come back a different player and a person and I'm not trying to be clever after, but that was part of the plan." "Before he went to Exeter, we thought about sports psychologists having a chat with him because of the fear factor of playing at home." "Then we decided maybe a long stint away might do him some good. He's a home-loving lad and you couldn't send him further away from Rotherham than we did." "Leaving a League Two team for League One in that circumstance is never heard of but he went and produced and realised he could play at that level and wasn't as bad as one or two people had been saying." "That was just the thing he needed. He's come back and he's talking to people and he's not taking any stick off people—he's giving it back." "It's toughened him up and his linkup with Alfie has been really good. They've both got a bit of pace and they are both dangerous in the attack."
